Meet Our Leadership Team
Thony K. Ngumbu, MBA
Founder, CEO
A native of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Thony is a U.S. Army veteran and an entrepreneur who previously held senior leadership positions in the U.S. private sector and NGO sector. Having lived in Europe, Central and Eastern Africa, Thony brings insight and understanding on implementing projects on the African continent. Thony speaks French, English, Swahili, Kikongo, Lingala, some Spanish, and is currently learning Mandarin. Thony holds a B.S. of Economics and Political Science from the University of Houston, and an MBA from Rice University.
Fareen Elias, MBA
Co-Founder
Fareen is a finance and investment banking professional with firms such as Wells Fargo bank and Citibank. She has a passion for advancing clean energy access in sub-Saharan Africa. Fareen obtained her BSc in Geophysics with minors in Mathematics and Economics from Texas A&M University, and her MBA from the Rice University Jones Graduate School of Business.
Lokoko Kitenza, P.E., MBA

Chief Operations Officer
Lokoko is an engineer with 20+ years of experience in the electric utility industry. Since 2001, he has been a Senior Electric Transmission and Distribution Protection Engineer, as well as an Electrical Distribution Planning Engineer with Pacific Gas and Electric (PG & E) Company in California. Before relocating to the United States, Lokoko worked as humanitarian electrician and emergency construction logistician in Tanzania for humanitarian agencies such as International Rescue Committee (IRC). Lokoko holds a BSEE from Montana State University and he is an active member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Power & Energy Society (PES).
Markus Theobald, MEng

Markus is an energy projects professional with 17+ years of experience developing and delivering large capital projects in the energy industry. Markus has a diverse range of development experience on subsea, offshore, LNG and onshore unconventional projects with international experience in the UK, Egypt, Trinidad & Tobago, Canada and the US. Markus is a chartered mechanical engineer by background with significant business, financial and project development experience. In 2011, Markus founded Guguplex Technologies, a company that installs solar systems and water pumps in Nigeria, and has spun-off an independent company in Suriname, as well as providing technical consultancy services across Africa including Kenya, Uganda & Tanzania. Markus obtained his MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southampton in southern England.
Medard N. Mussanda, P.E.
Government Relations Advisor
Based in Kinshasa, DR Congo, Medard is a former diplomat and public official. During his public service career, Medard represented his native DR Congo in several countries and was involved in several political ministries. More recently, he led the creation of the DRC government’s Rural Electrification Agency (ANSER). Medard oversees and advises our company in political relations and risk.
Chansard Mbangi
Sales Coordinator
Chansard has a diverse experience acquired in several sectors in the DR Congo. He held the position of accountant at the accounting firm Jambo Invest Consulting in the DRC. Chansard was also a humanitarian agent in the Association for Social Development and Safeguarding the Environment (ADSSE), in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNCHR). More recently, Chansard served as Administrative Secretary for anNGO called MEDALPHA, which operates in the DRC and Tanzania. Chansard was trained as an Analyst Programmer in the Analysis and Programming option of the Kinshasa Institute of Commerce (ISC).
